CW2 David Shephard

Killed in action September 19th 2005


Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2) David R. Shephard was a member of the Washington Army National Guard, Company A, 1st Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), located in Buckley, Washington.

Sadly, CW2 Shephard lost his life in a suicide car bombing while serving as a member of a Personal Security Detachment in Mosul, Iraq. At the time, CW2 Shephard was a Blackwater USA employee working for the U.S. Department of State.

CW2 Shephard is survived by his wife Cynthia A. Shephard, his parents, a brother, and two sisters. He is interred at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.

CW2 Shephard's military service record is as follows:

Entered military service in 1986 as a member of the USAR Special Forces; completed Infantry & Airborne training 1986; completed SFAS in 1989; completed SFQC as an 18C SF Engineer SGT in 1990; transitioned into ARNG Special Forces in 1994; completed SFQC as an 18E SF Communications SGT in 1995; completed SF Assistant OPNS & INT course in 2000; completed US Army WOCS in 2000; completed SF WOBC in 2001.

Commissioned as an SF Warrant Officer in NOV00; promoted to CW2 in NOV02. [CW2 David Shephard]

He served in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
