96th Troop Command

The Washington Army National Guard’s 96th Troop Command is comprised of more than 2,000 citizen soldiers filling the ranks of very diverse and specialized units. The 96th has everything from cavalry scouts to public affairs; chemical decontamination to engineer capabilities. Since September 11, 2001, more than 20 separate units and more than 800 citizen soldiers within the 96th have deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The 96th has also contributed to Operation Noble Eagle, the Hurricane Katrina relief mission, Operation Jump Start (Southwest Border Mission), and numerous state missions here in Washington State.

Federal Mission: 96th Troop Command commands, controls, and supervises subordinate units in order to mobilize and deploy in support of global contingency operations to achieve US national security objectives.

State Mission:  96th Troop Command commands, controls, and supervises subordinate units in order to mobilize and deploy in support of civil authorities to protect life, property, and preserve peace in Washington and FEMA Region 10.
